The origins of Birds and Beasts

Wild and Free  is a whimsical depiction of magical wild animals designed by Vanessa’s daughter, Rose. She drew these wonderful shapes whilst visiting the British Museum. The charging bull is from a 4th Century BC Etruscan vase and the more magical creatures are from ancient cave drawings.

Rose was mesmerised by 7th Century BC Assyrian relief carvings of deer hunts. These animals are leaping across the width of fabric interspersed with atmospheric African Acacia trees. Stylised animal forms have been depicted in artworks for centuries and indeed are the first images discovered several centuries BC.

This design is printed on our signature Linen Union and is perfect for Made to Measure blinds, upholstery fabrics and curtains.
