A variation of exciting and diverse workshops, classes and events are held, such as lampshade making, charitable/support groups, and much more.

Vanessa Arbuthnott, came up with the idea for the project in 2015, which has since become a busy and thriving hub of activities and events. Every week, the space is used by a variety of charities, community groups, and creative workshop organisers. The is no charge for using this space if the workshop is helping the community.

Meet Rose Arbuthnott

Vanessa’s daughter, Rose, has contributed to the Vanessa Arbuthnott collection, designing several fabrics. She studied Art and History of Art at the University of Edinburgh and co-founded The Owl Barn artist residency — a space created for artists, makers and thinkers to live and work creatively.

Rose is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art in London. Alongside her studies, she regularly exhibits her work in a number of galleries, as well as at the Vanessa Arbuthnott showroom and the Bothy.

Interested in buying a painting?

All still life paintings are oil on wooden board and measure approximately 60 cm × 60 cm. The price is £500 framed or £400 unframed. Landscape paintings are gouache paint on paper and measure 25cm x 20cm. They are priced at £120. Rose's work is displayed in the fabrics showroom.
