Why choose By The Sea?
Vanessa's husband, Nick, designed this wonderful seaside fabric print.
Nick adds: "By the Sea was inspired by my early childhood in Solva and recent visits to Mousehole and St Ives. I delight in coastal towns with their cosy harbours and brightly coloured cottages, nestling behind little pathways that snake between terraced gardens and climb up the hillside."
These seaside fabrics can be used for all soft furnishings. The pictorial design can be made into wonderful blinds and curtains, there is so much to look at in the design, from boats, lighthouses, to dogs and people, as well as pretty cottages and the sea.
Roller blinds provide a wonderful flat surface for this seaside story. Children’s imaginations can be fired up and with the lovely detailed scenes and with light behind the fabric, the seaside can come alive.
This seaside fabric comes from the Artists' Collection, and is suitable for covering chairs, sofas and footstools really well. It is printed on a Linen Union and is strong enough to be used for upholstery. By the Sea would also look fabulous on a headboard, for a bed or scatter cushions in a seaside-themed sitting room, or for coastal bedroom curtains.
What other fabrics complement By The Sea?
Many fabrics from other collections go well, or contrast well with this design. The Plain Linen Union in Saffron, Teal and Scree, complements and contrasts with the Seaside pattern and adds some stillness and calm to the interior scheme.
Below is an example of an upholstered chair in By the Sea, with an added pop of colour on a cushion in Plain Saffron.
