Grey Fabrics More Varied Than You Think

Grey can be surprisingly varied once you start looking closely. It’s rarely just a flat mix of black and white — there are often hints of blue, green or even pink running through it. From lighter, softer greys to deeper tones, it’s a colour that settles into a room and works quietly alongside others.

Why choose grey?

Grey is a quiet, understated colour and a wonderful choice for creating a calm, neutral space. Rarely is grey simply a mix of black and white; it often has subtle undertones of blue, green, pink, mauve or yellow, giving it warmth and character. Darker greys can be wonderfully dramatic and look particularly good lifted with accents of yellow, orange, red or pink.

Grey fabric favourites

Our grey fabric colours include Winter, Charcoal, Dove and Clay, with Winter being the darkest and closest to black. Charcoal is an easy-to-live-with mid grey, while Pigeon is our soft green-grey, a beautifully gentle colour that works happily in almost any room.

Dove is our most popular warm grey and is paired with colours such as Saffron and Smoke across stripes, spots and prints. Clay is perhaps the prettiest of our greys, combined with Damson, Buttercup, Hay and Sweet Pea to create soft, timeless colour combinations.

Fabric samples are always worth seeing at home before making a decision. A half metre returnable sample can be draped over existing furniture or held at the window to see how the colour changes throughout the day.

All of our fabrics are printed in the UK on our signature linen union, making them suitable for curtains, Roman and roller blinds, cushions, lampshades and upholstery. We keep good stock of our fabrics, with delivery usually within 3–5 working days, subject to availability. The same team who takes your order also rolls, inspects and cuts your fabric, helping to ensure the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
