Inspired by Matisse

One of Vanessa's favourite artists is Matisse, who towards the end of his life cut out bold, simple shapes for collages. She used this method to create Up in the Air, which began as a cut-out and then took on a wonderfully organic block-printed feel. While the changes each season brings to trees are depicted in Four Seasons.
