Made to Measure Curtains

Vanessa has created several bird print fabrics for making into curtains, our feathered friends being one of her passions in life! She has binoculars in her bedroom and bathroom windows ready to catch glimpses of the nesting Kestrels and Red Kites in her barn’s nesting boxes. Small garden birds must be the most amazing creatures, taking weeks to create the most beautiful and intricately woven nests.

Here are our bird print Curtain fabrics

The very first bird design Vanessa created over 22 years ago now, is called Cockerel and Spot. This bird fabric was inspired by the hens and cockerels in her garden.

This was closely followed by Up in the Air, featuring swallows flying and swooping in circles in the sky.

Dawn Chorus depicts stylised garden birds showing their delightful markings of spots and stripes. This 1950's style curtain fabric is inspired by mid-century designers, such as Lucienne Day. It is possible to use these designs in both children's rooms and adult’s spaces.

The Bird Hop was created by Vanessa's younger daughter, Flora. It shows a characterful and friendly plump bird and is available in Smoke blue.

Song Birds design shows a small garden bird sitting amongst the foliage of hedgerow, available in a beautiful Buttercup colour.

Branching Out and In Full Flight are two bird print fabrics which were created by lino cutting and hand printing. Both similar in design, they show flying stylized birds set within a leafy trellis, the Branching Out being the smaller pattern repeat of the two.

All these designs have interest and fascination for children and adults alike. The beautiful colours of these bird fabrics mean they can be used for curtains in all rooms in the house.

These bird print designs are great for curtains, blinds and upholstery, and printed on a wonderful 100% printed Linen and Linen Unions. The Linen Unions contain organic cotton mixed with eco Linen, making is the best material for curtains. In addition, a lampshade made from one of these bird fabrics would be a great focal point in a room, as would a chair, cushion, or even a quilt. We can make all these especially for you as part of our Made to Measure service.
