Made to Measure Curtains
What curtains should I have in a dining room?
Dining room colour schemes don’t have to be bland and boring! The dining room is often one of the less-used rooms in the house nowadays, so if you still have a formal dining room, it’s worth embracing that sense of occasion and being a little more extravagant and daring with its decoration.
Here are some of the pros and cons of curtains vs blinds for rooms around your property.
Which of your fabrics would you recommend for smart dining room curtains?
You could go for drama with darker walls and have lighter curtains like Fine Foliage from Vanessa's Wild Garden Collection, which will help your windows feel lighter. Dark walls and light fabrics are a good combination. Cow Parsley, Flora and Fauna, and Sunflower, for example, all make lovely dining room curtains in pale colours.
Luxurious interlined curtains cosy up a dining room, lovely to shut out the night in the evening and light the candles.
Which of your fabrics would you recommend for a more informal dining room?
We recommend using simpler fabrics for the dining room, such as anything from the woven striped collection. These would create a more airy, modern Scandinavian dining room feel and be more in tune with a room with multi-functions, such as doubling up as an office.
Remember napkins and tablecloths add colour and softness to a dining room and can be made from any of our fabrics. They will fade with machine washing but this gives a vintage feel.
Exquisite curtains with a variety of headings can be made for you through our Made to Measure curtains service. Just provide the measurements for the curtain sizes you need for your dining room and we'll make them to your size requirements.
Please ask for fabric samples and see the colours in your rooms. If you order a half metre returnable sample you can drape it over an existing chair or pin it to your present curtains and see how it looks. All our fabrics are printed in the UK on a good weight of 100% Linen and Linen Union making them suitable for curtains, blinds, cushions and upholstery.
We hold good stock of all our fabrics ensuring delivery is usually within 3-5 working days, with an overnight service available by phone call request. The same team who takes your order will roll, inspect and cut it, so accuracy and quality can be assured.
