Made to Measure Curtains

Trimmings like braids, pom poms and tassels, etc. are not sold by us. However, as part of our Made to Measure service, we do suggest adding a Plain Linen Union, or a complementary, smaller scale design to your curtains by way of what we refer to as a "leading edge" (approx. 5cm wide on front and back), which is sewn vertically onto the inside of the curtains; when drawn, they will meet in the middle. This is very useful to hide scuff marks if being handled regularly, and also to help protect the edges of the curtains from potential sun damage. We made a pair of curtains using this method, using Little Fern in Mallow as the main fabric, accompanied by Plain Linen Union in Kale as the leading edge. Quite striking! Another example would be the main fabric in Up the Garden Path - Dusky Pink, with a leading edge in Pretty Maids - Dusky Pink & Winter.

Frequently used fabrics used as leading edges include Pretty Maids, Sepals and Petals, Plain Dotty, Simple Ticking Detail, Little Fern, and May Blossom, as well as all of our stripes and plains. The general rule of thumb is to use anything with a small to no pattern repeat.

Sometimes if you want to link with other colours in a room, for instance, if you have a Damson sofa and chair and Kale green curtains, consider putting a Damson leading edge on your Kale green curtains.
